Carver Food Enterprise Center: Farm to School Initiative

The Carver Food Enterprise Center (CFEC) will play a pivotal role in a new initiative funded by a $92,084 Farm to School grant awarded to the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC). This program aims to increase local foods in school meals and improve nutrition security for children. Utilizing the CFEC’s commercial kitchen, which received $200,000 in federal funding for renovations, the program will deliver monthly local, healthy entrees or side dishes to Rappahannock County Public School students. This initiative bridges the gap between local farmers and school cafeterias, providing fresh, nutritious food and hands-on agricultural learning experiences for students. NPCF recently contributed $20,000 in funding to support CFEC's mission.
