New Scholarship Honors Respected Former Fauquier County Sheriff’s Deputy

The Bracey Family Commitment to Service Scholarship has been established through the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation to honor former Fauquier Sheriff’s Deputy, Glenn Bracey, who died in June of this year. Glenn proudly served this community throughout his career, first with the town police, and then with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. He often shared harrowing stories of his days as Deputy Sheriff covering 651 square miles of the County with only one other Deputy and the lifeline of his Dispatcher during the early 1980s. Former Commonwealth Attorney and Judge, Charles Foley, described Glenn as, “a man with the highest integrity.” Many others remember him as a proud supporter of his brotherhood of Police Officers and other first responders; often donating supplies and equipment to young people beginning their Police, Fire and EMT training.

The Bracey Family Commitment to Service Scholarship supports Interns or Cadets of the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and/or the Warrenton Police Department and those pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. Priority is given to the candidate who demonstrates financial need, a commitment to service through their involvement with the Sheriff’s Office, Warrenton Police Department or in criminal justice class in high school or prior military service. Applicants can apply through the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office.
