Alan Ashton Poe Scholarship Fund (UA)

The Alan Ashton Poe Scholarship Fund is for the benefit of graduating students at Fauquier High School.  Students must be planning to compete in NCAA Division III sports in college.  First priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need but all students will be considered. Students should demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience, possess an academic record that displays leadership and initiative and show a commitment to their chosen field of study. Award amounts vary.

Alice and William Johnson Foundation Scholarship (UA)

Alice and William Johnson strongly valued education and commitment to excellence. As Fauquier residents for more than 30 years, they desired to help students in their community. They felt strongly that one’s financial situation should not hinder their pursuit of the career of their dreams. Qualifying applicants must be seniors graduating from a Fauquier County public high school who show a desire & aptitude to succeed in their college career. Award amounts vary. This scholarship is renewable for at least one year and provided the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 and submits transcripts annually to NPCF.

The Bracey Family Commitment to Service Scholarship Fund (apply through the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office)

The Bracey Family Commitment to Service Scholarship is in honor of Glenn Bracey. Glenn was a 1974 graduate of Fauquier High School who, after serving in military intelligence overseas, launched a career in policing, serving first with the Warrenton Police department then with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. Those years shaped his love and admiration for our region’s first responders. This scholarship is designed for residents of Fauquier County who are working as Interns or Cadets for the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and/or the Warrenton Police Department and pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. First priority is given to the candidate who demonstrates financial need, a commitment to service through their involvement with the Sheriff’s Office, Warrenton Police Department or in criminal justice class in high school or prior military service. Applicants should have community service experience and/or work experience, possess an academic record that displays initiative, and show a commitment to their chosen field of study.

David Collins Jeck Memorial Scholarship (Please see your high school counseling office to learn how to apply)

David Collins Jeck was a passionate and incredibly talented chef. He was a friendly, hard working, dependable and caring individual. He believed that treating people with respect and kindness were of paramount importance. This scholarship in his name benefits students who are residents of Fauquier County and are attending a Fauquier County Public High School. The scholarship seeks to support those students seeking a career in the culinary arts or a related field. Students must attend an accredited culinary school or any college or university offering a formal culinary program. Applicants should embody the characteristics and qualities of David Collins Jeck. They should have a passion for food, cooking and the culinary arts, and show a commitment to the study of culinary arts with a goal of a professional career in the field. Debbie P. Hoysa Hokie Club Memorial Scholarship (UA)

Debbie Pearson Hoysa, a Fauquier native, graduate of Fauquier High School and Virginia Tech, was often quoted as saying the best four years of her life were spent in Blacksburg at Virginia Tech. Qualifying applicants must be graduating seniors from Fauquier High School, show active participation in Fauquier High School athletics (including cheerleading) and be accepted to and attend Virginia Tech. In an effort to honor her love for Virginia Tech, a $1,500 scholarship will be awarded.

Dr. Eric J. Maybach Memorial Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship was established in memory of a local family practitioner, Dr. Eric J. Maybach. Dr. Maybach treated countless residents of Fauquier County, and in his honor, a scholarship was created. Qualifying applicants must be a resident of Fauquier County and pursuing a degree in medicine – medical school, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant. Award amount varies.

Fauquier County Chamber Of Commerce Max Tufts, Sr. Memorial (UA)

This scholarship was created in memory of Maximilian A. Tufts Sr. who was an energetic community volunteer. He was committed to many organizations including the Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce, Highland School, Fauquier Community Action Committee, Fauquier Human Relation Committee, Warrenton Rescue Squad, the Meadows Outdoors Foundation and the Airlie Foundation. Eligible students should be college or university bound graduating seniors from any Fauquier County public or private high school. Scholarship recipients should demonstrate involvement in both school and community. Two $1,000 awards will be given.

Fauquier County High School Varsity Field Hockey Scholarship (UA)

The Fauquier County High School Field Hockey Scholarship was established in 2021 in honor of Freddie Hodge who has been a local sportswriter in Fauquier County. This is a $500 award. Eligibility is limited to seniors attending Fauquier High School who will be playing field hockey in college, and/or were members of the FHS Field Hockey team. Applicants must demonstrate academic merit, possess an academic record that displays initiative and leadership, and have community service and/or work experience.

Fauquier Scholarship Fund (Please see your high school counseling office to learn how to apply)

This fund was established in 1973 by Harriet W. Harper who desired to provide funds for graduates of Fauquier County Public High Schools. This scholarship is for the benefit of students who are graduating from a public high school in Fauquier County and are residents of the County. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and character. Please see your school’s counseling officer to apply.

Gerry Henson Memorial Scholarship (UA)

Gerry Henson was as generous and caring as they come and was especially passionate about youth sports. He was the recipient of multiple Athletic Achievement Awards from Fauquier High School for his dedication and commitment to high school sports. A loving father and husband, his favorite thing to do was watch his two boys play sports. Whether it was at a baseball diamond or football field, Gerry could always be found leaning against the fence wearing a smile. In honor of Gerry’s memory, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to Fauquier High School seniors who will be attending Virginia Tech and /or Bridgewater College.

Hayden Bell Memorial Scholarship (UA)

The Hayden Bell Memorial Scholarship is available for Fauquier High School (FHS) graduates or candidates for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year. Applicants must be current residents of Fauquier County. The scholarship is for students who are (or for graduates that were) members of the FHS Orchestra and/or FHS Band. This one-time scholarship awards $10,000 per year.

Kathleen Hitt Mercado Memorial Scholarship (UA)

The Kathleen Hitt Mercado Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by her family in memory of a woman who taught in the Fauquier County Schools for 35 years. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support a post-secondary educational scholarship for qualifying graduates of Fauquier High School who will pursue a mathematics/computer-science related degree. The recipient should possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 as well as demonstrate academic leadership and community service. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

Laura Bagshaw Memorial Scholarship (UA)

The Laura Bagshaw Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of a young woman who demonstrated the qualities of school spirit, athleticism, community service, compassion and leadership. This scholarship fund supports post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of Fauquier High School. The recipient of this scholarship will be a well-rounded individual who participates fully in activities in school and in their local community. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

Lucas Allen Erin’s Elderberries (UA)

The Lucas Allen Erin’s Elderberries Scholarship Fund was established by a local small business entrepreneur interested in helping Fauquier County High School students with their career goals. Students must be residents of Fauquier County, who are attending a Fauquier County Public High School. The applicant must be graduating high school in the current academic year. Priority is given to the applicant who demonstrates financial need and has a work/employment history. The applicant should be in good academic standing, possess an academic record that displays initiative and shows a commitment to their chosen field of study. This is a $1,000 award.

Margaret M. Pierce Memorial Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship was established in memory of Margaret M. Pierce, a dedicated elementary school teacher and principal in Fauquier County who inspired many with her enthusiasm for education. This scholarship honors her memory and assists those she loved – the students of Margaret M. Pierce Elementary School. Qualified applicants must have attended Margaret M. Pierce Elementary School , be a candidate for graduation from Liberty High School at the end of the current academic year and plan to enroll in an institution of higher education in the continental United States the following academic year. Multiple scholarships will be awarded.

Martha Mae Giles Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Martha Mae Giles. It will benefit graduating high school students from Fauquier, Culpeper, Madison or Rappahannock counties planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university. First priority is given to members or children of members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Warrenton, VA; however, the scholarship award is open to all students and not limited to church members. This scholarship is renewable provided the student submits transcripts annually to NPCF.

Patrick Ryan Gay Memorial JMU Scholarship – Fauquier High School (UA)

Patrick Ryan Gay was a 2003 graduate of Fauquier High School and a 2007 graduate of James Madison University. To honor Patrick’s memory, a scholarship will be awarded to a Fauquier High School senior who will be attending James Madison University. The recipient will receive $7,500 for their first year of school, and offers the opportunity to renew at $2,500 for subsequent years, provided the student is still at JMU and maintaining a satisfactory GPA. Students must submit their college transcripts to NPCF.

Patrick Ryan Gay Memorial JMU Scholarship – Kettle Run High School (UA)

Patrick Ryan Gay was a 2003 graduate of Fauquier High School and a 2007 graduate of James Madison University. To honor Patrick’s memory, a scholarship will be awarded to a Kettle Run High School senior who will be attending James Madison University. The recipient will receive $2,500 for their first year of school, and offers the opportunity to renew at $1,000 for subsequent years, provided the student is still at JMU and maintaining a satisfactory GPA. Students must submit their college transcripts to NPCF.

Patrick Ryan Gay Memorial JMU Scholarship Liberty High School (UA)

Patrick Ryan Gay was a 2003 graduate of Fauquier High School and a 2007 graduate of James Madison University. To honor Patrick’s memory, a scholarship will be awarded to a Liberty High School senior who will be attending James Madison University. The recipient will receive $2,500 for their first year of school, and offers the opportunity to renew at $1,000 for subsequent years, provided the student is still at JMU and maintaining a satisfactory GPA. Students must submit their college transcripts to NPCF.

Paul S. Trible Sr. Memorial Scholarship (UA)

Paul S. Trible Sr., a Fauquier native and graduate of Virginia Tech, was a local business owner and father of four Fauquier High School graduates. He was a devoted supporter of FHS athletic teams and sports medicine trainers. Paul loved sports, but he felt strongly that any athletic participant ought to give as much effort to his or her schoolwork as to his or her team. Qualifying applicants must be eligible for graduation from Fauquier High School with a minimum GPA of 3.0, show active participation in FHS athletic clubs or be a sports medicine trainee, demonstrate involvement in the community. This Scholarship is designed only for those attending 4-year colleges or universities.  Award will range from $500 to $1,000.

Pauline H. Bruce Memorial Scholarship (UA)

Pauline Bruce was a dynamic educator who taught in both the Rappahannock and Fauquier public schools for more than 40 years. Qualifying applicants must show a desire and aptitude to succeed in their college career. This scholarship is $2,000.

RMD Music Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship is for a graduating senior from a Fauquier or Rappahannock County public school who intends to seek a degree in music at an accredited four-year institution. An eligible student should be well rounded and display initiative, motivation and leadership. Recipients must audition for this scholarship in the spring of their senior year. Students must also present their acceptance into a University music program before auditioning. The renewable scholarship is for $12,000 for four years ($3,000 each year), provided the student is still in a music degree program, provides annual transcripts to NPCF and maintains a GPA of at least 2.7.

Robyn Teates Bixenman Memorial Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship honors Robyn Teates Bixenman and will be awarded to a student from Fauquier High School or a returning student who plans to pursue a career in the field of health-related, music or veterinary medicine. Qualifying students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and show a desire and aptitude to succeed in their college career. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded.

Rodger H. Baker Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Fauquier County public schools who plans to pursue a career in the health field at a 2- or 4-year institution. Preference will go to students pursuing a nursing degree, though all health fields will be considered. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience, display leadership and initiative and show a commitment to their chosen field of study. Financial need is considered. Award amount varies.

Rodgers Family Agricultural Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Fauquier County who intends to seek a degree in an agricultural-related field at an accredited two- or four-year institution. Qualifying candidates should demonstrate financial need and display initiative, motivation, and leadership. The amount varies and offers the possibility of renewing.

Rodgers Family Civil Engineering Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship is for a graduating senior from Fauquier County who intends to seek a degree in civil engineering at an accredited two- or four-year institution. Qualifying candidates should demonstrate financial need and display initiative, motivation, and leadership. The amount of the award varies and offers the possibility of renewing.

St. Luke’s Foundation Scholarship Fund (UA)

The St. Luke’s Foundation Scholarship is open to seniors who are residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, or Rappahannock counties, and are alumni of any private school in Culpeper County, although priority is given to St. Luke’s alumni. The qualifying candidate should possess a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience and possess an academic record that displays leadership and initiative. Up to three scholarships are available for $1,000 – $2,000 depending on GPA. This award is renewable for all four years provided the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 and submits transcripts annually to NPCF.

Sallie Morgan Behavioral Health Scholarship (UA)

The Sallie Morgan Behavioral Health Scholarship was created to support future generations in achieving success in the behavioral health field. The scholarship is available to graduates or candidates for high school graduation, public or private, at the end of the current academic year. Applicants must be residents of Fauquier or Rappahannock County. Individuals out of high school who are registered in an accredited mental health program are also eligible. All behavioral health fields will be considered. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded. Applicants should demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience, possess an academic record that displays leadership and initiative, show a commitment to their chosen field of study, and demonstrate financial need.

Steve Athey Memorial Scholarship (UA)

The Steve Athey Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Athey family in memory of a man who was passionate about baseball, especially about building a baseball community in Fauquier County. Mr. Athey was instrumental in bringing the Fauquier Gators to the area. To honor his dedication to baseball, scholarships are awarded to seniors graduating from Fauquier High School, Kettle Run or Liberty High School who maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates should have played baseball or softball during high school. Two scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded.

Theodore James Warzinski Memorial Scholarship Fund (Please see the financial aid office at Laurel Ridge to apply)

The Theodore James Warzinski Memorial Scholarship honors the memory and life of Theodore Warzinski.  Open to all students at Fauquier High School who are pursuing their post high school education, priority is given to first generation students attending Lord Fairfax Community College though applicants to 4 year colleges are considered as well.  Students should demonstrate financial need, good academic standing, community service experience, athletic involvement and display intelligence and diligence.  This $2,500 scholarship is renewable for the second year of community college.

Tyler Devers Memorial Scholarship (UA)

The Tyler Devers Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Tyler Devers, a 2016 Fauquier High School graduate. Tyler’s passion for business led him to compete at the local, state, and national levels in Future Business Leaders of America competitions. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to support a post-secondary educational scholarship for qualifying graduates of Fauquier High School,  and have a minimum 2.8 GPA. Priority is given to those students involved in FBLA and/or DECA.  Award amount varies. This scholarship is renewable. The student is required to submit college transcripts to NPCF.

Rappahannock County

Mary Beth Williams Memorial Scholarship (UA)

Mary Beth Williams was killed in an automobile accident on May 14, 1997. She was interested in higher education and agriculture and this fund was established as a memorial to her life and her dreams. Qualifying applicants must be residents of Rappahannock County, candidates for graduation from high school, have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5, demonstrate financial need for the scholarship, and must be enrolling in a two or four-year accredited college or university. Preference will be given to applicants who are majoring in agriculture or a related field of study and/or active participants in the Rappahannock 4-H program. Award amount varies.

Cooley, Dearing And Rinker Foundation Scholarship (Also Open To Students In Frederick Co., Warren Co. And City Of Winchester) (UA)

Qualifying applicants must show a desire and aptitude to succeed in their college career. Applicants must be a successful graduate of a public school in the City of Winchester, Frederick County, Rappahannock County or Warren County, and demonstrate a financial need. Candidates must be enrolling in a two- or four-year college or university. Award amounts vary but typically range from $1000-$5000.

Joe Timpane Building Trades Scholarship Fund (Please see the financial aid office at Laurel Ridge to apply)

This scholarship is awarded individuals of any age, who are residents in Rappahannock County. First priority is given to applicants who demonstrate financial need. If employed, a letter of reference from their employer is requested. This fund will support those who are pursuing training of any kind as it relates to the BUILDING Trades. This training could be a two-year program at a community college, a certificate program or workshop designed to improve specific skills. Areas of study include carpentry (as a primary focus), plumbing, electrical, masonry and other areas related to the building trades. Award amounts vary.

Martha Mae Giles Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Martha Mae Giles. It will benefit graduating high school students from Fauquier, Culpeper, Madison or Rappahannock counties planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university. Poling Family Memorial Scholarship (Please see the financial aid office at Laurel Ridge to apply)

The Poling Family Memorial Scholarship is a new and diverse scholarship opportunity for our Rappahannock County Students. Qualifying applicants must be residents of Rappahannock County, and candidates for graduation from high school in the current year, in solid academic standing and having participated in community service.  Primary preference will be given to applicants pursuing study of FIRE SCIENCES. If no applicants are applying in this area, then secondary consideration will be considered for applicants studying Culinary Arts. And finally, if neither culinary arts nor fire science applicants are discovered, then the scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing theater or visual arts.  Award amount varies.

RMD Music Scholarship (UA)

This scholarship is for a graduating senior from a Fauquier or Rappahannock County public school who intends to seek a degree in music at an accredited four-year institution. An eligible student should be well rounded and display initiative, motivation and leadership. Recipients must audition for this scholarship in the spring of their senior year. Students must also present their acceptance into a University music program before auditioning. The renewable scholarship is for $12,000 for four years ($3,000 each year), provided the student is still in a music degree program. Renewal is dependent on submitting annual transcripts to NPCF and maintaining a GPA of at least 2.7.

Lois R. Snead Arts & Crafts Scholarship Fund (UA)

This scholarship is awarded to students who are residents in Rappahannock County and are graduates or candidates for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year.  First priority is given to students who are first generation, demonstrate financial need, and are recommended by their teacher.  Students should demonstrate a commitment to a field in arts or crafts, have some community service experience, and possess an academic record that displays initiative.

Sallie Morgan Behavioral Health Scholarship (UA)

The Sallie Morgan Behavioral Health Scholarship was created to support future generations in achieving success in the behavioral health field. The scholarship is available to graduates or candidates for high school graduation, public or private, at the end of the current academic year. Applicants must be residents of Fauquier or Rappahannock County. Individuals out of high school who are registered in an accredited mental health program are also eligible. All behavioral health fields will be considered. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded. Applicants should demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience, possess an academic record that displays leadership and initiative, show a commitment to their chosen field of study, and demonstrate financial need.

St. Luke’s Foundation Scholarship Fund (UA)

The St. Luke’s Foundation Scholarship is open to seniors who are residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, or Rappahannock counties, and are alumni of any private school in Culpeper County, although priority is given to St. Luke’s alumni. The qualifying candidate should possess a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate good academic standing, have community service experience and possess an academic record that displays leadership and initiative. Up to three scholarships are available for $1,000 – $2,000 depending on GPA. This award is renewable for all four years provided the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 and submits transcripts annually to NPCF

Trade Certification And Technical Education Scholarship aka RMD Open Scholarship (separate application online through our website entitled Trade/Tech/Certification Programs)

This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a degree, certificate, or credential in a technical or trade education program. Examples of such programs include, but are not limited to, automotive technology, welding, industrial maintenance, commercial truck driving, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, or diesel and heavy equipment repair. The applicants must demonstrate financial need. The award is for $2,000 and may be renewable for an additional year provided transcripts are submitted to NPCF.
