YIP Students Share Their Program Experience

NPCF's 2024 cohort of Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) students embraced the role of young philanthropists, discovering how nonprofits address critical needs and build stronger communities. Through team-building exercises, nonprofit site visits, and thoughtful grant evaluations, YIP participants gained essential skills in leadership, empathy, and decision-making.

The program culminated in students choosing a nonprofit grant recipient, Fauquier FISH, a decision that required in-depth analysis and collaboration. This hands-on experience not only taught them about giving back but also empowered them with the confidence to create positive change.

Below, Senior Hugh Garner shares his insights on how this program equips young people to make a lasting impact through philanthropy.
