Northern Piedmont Community Foundation Announces 2009 Scholarship Recipients

The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation awarded the following nine scholarships for the 2009 – 2010 school year.

Eryn Reece, of Highland School, received the Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce Max Tufts Scholarship Award.  Ms. Reece will attend Emory and Henry College.

James Drake, of Fauquier High School, received the Laura Bagshaw Memorial Scholarship Award.   Mr. Drake will attend the University of Virginia in the fall

Brian Hoysa, of Fauquier High School, received the Paul S. Trible, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award.  Mr. Hoysa will attend the College of William and Mary in the fall.

Cody Williams and Gregory Ussery, of Liberty High School and Washington & Lee University respectively, received the Steve Athey Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Mr.Williams will attend Frederick Community College in the fall.

Ryan Steves, of Fauquier High School, received the Debbie P. Hoysa Hokie Club Schlolarship.  Mr. Steves will attend Virginia Tech.

Brian Caperton, of Fauquier High School, received the newly established Patrick Ryan Gay Memorial JMU Scholarship Award.  Mr. Caperton will attend James Madison University in the fall.

Allison Oldham, of Fauquier High School, received the Kathleen Hitt Mercado Memorial Scholarship.  Ms. Oldham will attend the College of William and Mary.

Monica Chaffee, a teacher at St. Luke’s Lutheran School, received the Celebrate Education! Ruth Lea Davies Grant.  This grant provides financial assistance to outstanding Culpeper County School teachers to enable them to participate in programs to further their professional development.  Ms. Chaffee is attending Williamsburg’s Teacher Institute in Early American History.
